AI Voicemail: Never miss a call again

First up – AI voicemail.

Here’s what I noticed: we’d call customers to check in, get website updates, ask questions, you name it.

But nine times out of ten, straight to voicemail. Off season, in season, didn’t matter.

That got me thinking: if we can’t reach you, your customers probably can’t either.

And every missed call is basically just leaking revenue.

Think about it. Someone has enough motivation to pick up the phone and call you. If you don’t answer, or don’t call back within 10 minutes, chances are they’ve already booked with a competitor. Instantaneous reputation destroyer.

So we rolled out an AI voicemail pilot in May.

No new phone numbers, no tech headaches. If you can answer the phone – great. Always answer.

But if you can’t, the AI picks up, knows all your info, asks the right questions, and pre-qualifies the lead.

Over 400 calls so far.

The results? Honestly, I’m shocked at how effective it’s been.

Over 40% of calls had booking intent. 

The AI captured names, dates, group sizes – all the details. Instead of digging through dead voicemail boxes, you now get a clean list of hot leads ready to follow up.

Yeah, some people really don’t like talking to AI.

But the number who love getting an immediate response far outweighs the few who get annoyed.

Switching gears.

I put together a new ad for Overflow using Google’s new VEO 3 AI video tool.

Honestly, it’s insane what you can create now. I used to produce commercials with full teams: camera crew, lighting, sound mixing. Tens of thousands of dollars and weeks of work.

Now? I made this ad in a few hours, in my boxers, from my office.

It’s not perfect. Still takes some learning, but way easier than a full production.

Infra & Website Builder Updates

Lastly – infrastructure and website updates.

We just wrapped a massive 3-month infrastructure upgrade, moving everything to a modern event-driven stack.

Might not mean much on the surface, but it sets us up for some big new features coming soon.

Website builder is still on track for launch end of summer. Can’t show you much yet – it’s all backend engineering work right now.

But progress is moving a lot faster with the new infra in place.

Super excited to get it into your hands soon.
